Real Name: Jason Smith
Background: Captured by HAVOC and forced to work for them, test pilot and engineer Jason Smith developed a powerful battlesuit and plasma sword that he used to break free and defeat his captors. He took the name Protector and devoted his life to defeating the forces that worked against peace and security.
Protector was the first leader of the Watchstar team and leader of other teams as well.
Protector was murdered by Slayer at the end of the invasion of Isola. However, during the assassination, he managed to upload his consciousness to his suit's main computer, and a clone body was later grown for him. After an absence of several years, these events allowed him to be resurrected. He has recently returned to action as a superhero.
Smith recently retired as a superhero to take the role of Director-General of the new UN space agency, PHASE III.
