The Imperial Guard is an elite team of cosmic superheroes sworn to defend the vast Karnak Empire from interstellar threats. Chosen from the empire’s diverse species, each member represents the pinnacle of their race’s unique abilities.

The team of heroes includes:

• Warduke (Duke Ranya of Kallima): A Karnak noble who can command atomic fire.
• Nova (Aelira Kaelith): An extremely skilled Karnak starflyer.
• Gargoyle (Kael Dravos): A skilled flying warrior.
• Probus (X'ticcix): An insectile humanoid with psychic abilities.
• Spydrex: A cyber-organic arachnoid construct.
• Thunderstar (Korvan T'rell): A massive lifeform with terrifying strength.
• Starseer (Voryn Solas): A sage and master of psionic powers of awareness.

The Guard zealously defends Imperial prerogatives. As such, even though they are supposed to be on the same side, the team has often come into conflict with other groups of heroes, whether galactic heroes such as the Citadel or the Liberators, and Earth heroes such as Watchstar.
