Trek:Rules
- NOTOC**
To Boldly Go
To Boldly Go is a purpose-built roleplaying system for adventures in the Star Trek universe. It emphasizes capable characters, an ensemble crew, fast resolution, scientific discovery, command decisions, and dramatic starship action.
The rules are organized around what Starfleet characters actually do rather than around long lists of narrowly defined abilities.
Rules Chapters
Create the character you want to play. This chapter covers Attributes, Disciplines, Focuses, Talents, Hindrances, species traits, personal history, and a character’s place aboard ship.
Characters in Star Trek grow through experience without constantly becoming more powerful. This chapter covers character development, new Focuses, changing responsibilities, redesigning characters, and the long-term structure of a continuing campaign.
Exploration is the heart of Starfleet’s mission. This chapter covers scientific investigation, unfamiliar phenomena, first contact, diplomacy, extended challenges, and discovering solutions to problems no one has encountered before.
Space exploration is dangerous. This chapter covers action scenes, physical conflict, phasers, injuries, environmental hazards, opposed rolls, Fortune, and the consequences of failure.
Command is more than issuing orders. This chapter covers leadership, responsibility, difficult decisions, coordinating the crew, assuming command, and earning the narrative authority to occupy the center seat.
A starship succeeds through the combined efforts of its crew. This chapter covers bridge stations, departmental operations, supporting characters, damage control, away teams, and starship encounters.
The Mission Continues
These rules are intended to produce episodes rather than tactical exercises. Characters confront dangers, mysteries, and moral problems; contribute according to their abilities and responsibilities; and return from each mission with new experiences that may shape the stories still to come.
