Crucible:The Babushka Directive
Formed in the twilight years of the Cold War, the Babushka Directive was the brainchild of a desperate KGB handler who realized the perfect cover for a mobile death squad wasn’t a crack team of black-clad commandos—it was a van full of knitwear-wrapped old ladies. They could cross borders unnoticed, guilt civilians into silence, and vanish into a church potluck without leaving a trace.
These four legendary agents were handpicked from various KGB departments, trained in brutal arts of espionage, sabotage, and social manipulation—and then given floral print dresses and sensible heels. Deployed to the U.S. under deep cover, they now pose as a traveling bridge club, roaming the country in their camouflaged minivan (The Yellow Rascal), engaging in covert missions… and bake sales.
They frequently came up against superheroes, including Seeker and the Guardians, and became a particular foe of Rebel.
