The ''Sweet Petunia’s'' reputation cannot be separated from that of [[Space Ace]]. With him at the controls, the ship could perform maneuvers that seemed impossible even to experienced pilots. He could skim a moon’s atmosphere, twist between asteroids, dive through weapons fire, and bring the ship out of a spin with inches to spare.

Space Ace understood the ship as more than a machine. He knew how far she could be pushed, when to trust her engines, when to cut power, and when to let momentum do what thrust could not. Many of the ship’s most famous victories came not from superior firepower, but from Ace’s ability to make the ''Sweet Petunia'' appear where no enemy expected her.
