== Origin ==

John Benson was born a **parahuman (mutant)**, his condition immediately visible in the form of large, fully functional feathered wings. Unable or unwilling to accept him, his parents abandoned him at an early age.

He survived.

At some point in his youth, John encountered a mysterious old man who took him in and trained him. The man taught him discipline, combat skills, and survival techniques, shaping him into something far more than a runaway with wings.

Then, without explanation, the old man vanished.

Left on his own once again, John made a choice.
