Jean Weatheral was once considered one of the most promising astronauts and aerospace specialists of her generation. Born in Australia and trained in advanced atmospheric flight and deep-space operations, Weatheral built a reputation for fearlessness, technical brilliance, and an almost reckless willingness to push experimental systems beyond their intended limits.

That same recklessness eventually destroyed her legitimate career.

After a disastrous mission and a series of escalating disciplinary incidents, Weatheral found herself increasingly isolated from the international aerospace community. Bitter at what she regarded as cowardice and bureaucratic mediocrity, she became obsessed with proving that humanity’s future belonged to individuals willing to take risks others feared.

Her opportunity arrived through an experimental solar exploration project.

== The Firebird Suit ==
