== Circus Career ==

Bernice Pratt spent most of her early life in the traveling circus world, where she quickly earned a reputation as a fearless aerial performer and high-wire acrobat. Agile, disciplined, and astonishingly quick even before her transformation, Pratt thrived in dangerous performances that left audiences breathless and management highly profitable.

Life under the tent taught her several lessons early:

never hesitate,

never freeze,

and never trust the safety net completely.

Despite her success, Bernie’s life outside performance remained unstable. Circus culture was demanding, transient, and often exploitative, and Pratt learned that performers were valued only as long as they could still fly.

Eventually, one bad fall proved the point.
