Real Name: Rufus Crenshaw

Background: Decades ahead of his time, Professor Proteus was one of the true geniuses of the Golden Age. He sought revenge on a world that had rejected him by various evil schemes, including domination of the world's electrical power systems. In pursuit of his plans, he often came into conflict with the Victory Squadron.

Group Affiliation: The Plunderers

Status: Proteus appeared to be killed in an explosion set off during one of his heists.

Skills: Proteus had an almost intuitive understanding of 1940s technology and was a talented, if fiendish, engineer.

Technology: Proteus was a brilliant inventor whose devices usually incorporated lots of gauges, dials and switches, and of course, lots of vacuum tubes. He designed power generators, weapons, flying machines, and devices of all kinds.
