Blackjack
[edit]“The house always wins. Tonight, I’m the house.” —Blackjack
Blackjack is the vigilante identity of Rogue Dawson, a Silver Age crimefighter who waged a one-man war against the mob-controlled underworld of Las Vegas.
A gambler by trade and a survivor by sheer will, Blackjack combined skill, nerve, and an almost supernatural run of luck to topple criminal empires that thought themselves untouchable.
Origin
[edit]Rogue Dawson made his living in the casinos of Las Vegas, where he earned a reputation as a skilled gambler and card sharp. He understood odds, risk, and the thin line between fortune and ruin better than most.
That understanding did not save him.
After crossing paths with the organization of mob boss Julian Caesar, Dawson was ambushed and brutally beaten by Caesar’s enforcers. Left for dead in the desert, he survived through circumstances so improbable they defied explanation.
Something had changed.
Whether it was fate, chance, or something else entirely, Dawson’s luck had turned—and it stayed turned.
The Birth Of Blackjack
[edit]Returning to Las Vegas, Dawson adopted the identity of Blackjack, a masked vigilante who struck directly at the mob’s operations.
Unlike many heroes of his era, Blackjack relied less on brute force and more on timing, deception, and probability. He played the long game—stacking the odds until his enemies found themselves beaten before they even realized they were in play.
He declared open war on the mob—and began winning.
War On The Mob
[edit]Blackjack’s campaign targeted the financial and operational core of organized crime in Las Vegas. Casinos, rackets, enforcement crews—nothing was beyond his reach.
His uncanny luck allowed him to survive situations that would have killed any ordinary man. Bullets missed. Plans fell into place. Enemies made critical mistakes at exactly the wrong moment.
To his allies, it seemed like destiny.
To his enemies, it felt like a curse.
Allies
[edit]Blackjack did not fight alone.
Valentine
[edit]Valerie Murphy, known as Valentine, was the daughter of the Golden Age crimefighter The Silhouette. Trained in martial arts and detective work, she operated as both partner and equal to Blackjack.
By day, she worked as a showgirl and entertainer in the casinos—giving her access to the very world they were trying to dismantle.
Broo
[edit]Theo Martin, known as Broo, was a powerful enforcer-turned-ally. Once a casino bouncer, he was rescued by Blackjack from mob control.
An accident in his youth left much of his skull reinforced with metal, effectively giving him a built-in helmet in combat. Broo served as Blackjack’s driver, bodyguard, and heavy hitter.
Together, the trio formed a highly effective unit against organized crime.
Abilities And Skills
[edit]Blackjack possessed no conventional superpowers—but his abilities were nonetheless extraordinary.
- Expert gambler and card sharp
- Crack shot with firearms
- Skilled tactician and planner
- Exceptional instincts for risk and probability
- Incredible luck—seemingly beyond normal explanation
Technology
[edit]Blackjack favored non-lethal and specialized equipment suited to his style.
- Gas Guns – Used for incapacitating opponents
- Stun Darts – Silent, precise takedowns
- Custom Gear – Tools for infiltration, escape, and misdirection
His approach emphasized control over chaos—ending fights before they escalated.
Personality
[edit]Rogue Dawson was cool, confident, and unshakably composed under pressure. He treated conflict like a game of chance—one he intended to win.
He rarely lost his temper, preferring to let events unfold in his favor. Beneath the surface, however, was a man who had been beaten, discarded, and left to die—and who had come back with something to prove.
Retirement
[edit]After years of dismantling organized crime operations in Las Vegas, Blackjack eventually stepped away from active crimefighting.
The reasons for his retirement remain unclear. Some believe the war was won. Others suspect that even luck has its limits.
Legacy

He did not rely on strength, speed, or powers.

They always came up in his favor.
