Von Teufel was the undead revenant identity of Otto Von Teufel, a feared SS commander of the Third Reich who was slain during World War II and later resurrected through dark sorcery by Nekrös. Reborn as an unholy specter sustained through occult power and sheer force of hatred, Von Teufel became one of the most terrifying supernatural enemies faced by the Midnight Men during the Golden Age.

Part soldier, part corpse, part living curse, Von Teufel embodied the nightmare possibility that evil might continue fighting even after death itself.

And in his case, it did.

Otto Von Teufel

Before his death, Otto Von Teufel was one of the most decorated and feared officers of the SS. Ruthless, fanatically loyal to the Nazi regime, and utterly convinced of his own superiority, Von Teufel rose rapidly through the hierarchy of the Third Reich through battlefield success and brutal efficiency.

He cultivated an image of icy aristocratic menace that proved highly useful for Nazi propaganda. To supporters of the Reich he was presented as the perfect German officer: disciplined, fearless, intelligent, and merciless toward enemies.

The reality was even worse.

Von Teufel oversaw massacres, occult investigations, political purges, and secret military operations across occupied Europe. Rumors of his involvement in Nazi occult programs circulated long before his death, though how much he truly understood about the supernatural remains uncertain.

What is certain is that he died violently near the end of the war.

And refused to stay dead.

Resurrection By Nekrös

After his death in battle, Von Teufel’s corpse was recovered by agents of the dark occultist Nekrös, who recognized the usefulness of preserving such a ruthless spirit. Through forbidden rituals and necromantic power, Nekrös restored the fallen officer to a mockery of life.

The resurrected Von Teufel was no longer truly human.

Though scraps of flesh still clung to his skeletal frame, he existed primarily through supernatural willpower and dark magical energy. Unlike mindless undead creatures, however, Von Teufel retained his intelligence, memories, tactical abilities, and ideological fanaticism.

If anything, death had stripped away what little humanity he once possessed.

Enemy Of The Midnight Men

Nekrös unleashed Von Teufel against the Midnight Men, recognizing that the undead SS commander represented both a physical threat and a psychological weapon. The Midnight Men found themselves confronting not merely a Nazi war criminal, but an immortal revenant seemingly impossible to destroy through conventional means.

Their first encounter nearly ended in disaster.

Gunfire slowed Von Teufel only temporarily. Injuries that should have crippled living men barely impeded him. Even after suffering catastrophic damage, he continued advancing through sheer supernatural hatred.

Only the combined efforts of the team finally managed to stop him temporarily.

Temporarily.

Because Von Teufel returned repeatedly over the following years, becoming one of the Midnight Men’s most persistent occult enemies.

Powers And Abilities

As an undead revenant animated through necromantic forces, Von Teufel possessed extraordinary resilience and supernatural endurance.
