The Blackhearts are a female-only supervillain team founded by Arctique during a brief stay in Black Iron Correctional Facility. What began as a prison alliance quickly became one of the most dangerous and enduring villain teams of the Modern Age.

Arctique originally assembled the team as a mutual defense pact among powerful inmates, but the Blackhearts soon evolved into a sophisticated criminal organization.
