Garin Greer was once a brilliant archaeologist and a valued member of Sierra Force. Today, he is a tragic and dangerous figure—his body and mind transformed by an alien symbiote with ties to a far greater threat.

His story is one of discovery, transformation, and loss.

Origin

As a young man, Garin Greer suffered a devastating accident that left him without the use of his legs. Refusing to let his physical limitations define him, Greer pursued an academic path, developing a sharp intellect and a passion for history and ancient civilizations.

He became a respected archaeologist, undertaking expeditions to remote and often dangerous locations across the globe. His work was driven by curiosity and a desire to uncover forgotten truths.

In a secluded region of the Rocky Mountains, Greer made his most significant—and most fateful—discovery.

Buried deep beneath the earth were remnants of an ancient alien incursion, long predating recorded human history. Among these relics was a dormant alien symbiote.

When Greer came into contact with it, the organism bonded to his body.

Transformation

The symbiote restored what Greer had lost.

For the first time since his accident, he could walk—and more than walk. The alien organism enhanced his body, granting him strength, speed, and resilience far beyond human limits. It also extended itself outward, forming powerful pseudopods capable of tremendous force.

With these newfound abilities, Greer entered a new phase of his life, calling himself Avatar and eventually joining Sierra Force as a superhuman operative.

For a time, Avatar was a hero.

Corruption

What Greer did not know was that the symbiote was not a benign organism.

It was a minion of D'Harque, a malevolent alien intelligence connected to the ancient invasion whose traces Greer had uncovered. The symbiote had not merely bonded with him—it had chosen him.

Over time, the organism began to influence Greer’s thoughts, subtly at first, then more aggressively. His perceptions shifted. His judgment faltered. The symbiote’s will intertwined with his own, reshaping his personality and priorities.

Eventually, the corruption became complete.

Avatar turned against Sierra Force and his former allies, becoming an agent—willing or otherwise—of a larger and more sinister design.

Powers

The alien symbiote grants Avatar formidable physical abilities.
