Avenger is the vigilante identity of Paul Murasaki, a master ninja trained by the deadly clan known as the Secret Swords. Once one of their most feared operatives, he turned against them after the execution of his father, becoming a relentless enemy of the order that raised him.
A figure of shadow and vengeance, Avenger combines elite martial skill with supernatural ninja sorcery—walking the line between assassin and hero.
Origin
Paul Murasaki was born into a legacy of violence and discipline. His father, a renowned ninja warrior, ensured that Paul was raised within the traditions of the Secret Swords, a clandestine clan devoted to obedience and lethal precision.
That illusion shattered when his father refused an order to assassinate an innocent woman.
For that act of defiance, he was executed.
Paul chose a different path.
Rejecting the code that had shaped him, he swore to destroy the Secret Swords and dismantle the system that had taken his father’s life. Taking the name Avenger, he left Japan and brought his war to the world.
Vigilante Career
In New York City, Avenger became a relentless vigilante, targeting organized crime and the hidden networks of the Secret Swords.
He joined the Outsiders and later worked alongside Watchstar, but he has never been a comfortable team player. Avenger does not pull punches. He does not hesitate.
He spills blood.
A lot of it.
Even hardened killers regard him with unease. Among the underworld, he is known as a stone killer—a man who does not rage or posture, but simply acts with cold, absolute finality.
Watchstar And Beyond
Avenger returned briefly to prominence when Watchstar clashed with the Secret Swords, lending his expertise and personal vendetta to the fight.
Since then, he has remained largely independent, though sightings place him among the New York vigilante group known as the Night Shift. He is also romantically linked to Quarry.
The Reincarnation Mystery
Some accounts suggest that Avenger is not merely a man, but part of a cycle.
According to these stories, Paul Murasaki is the reincarnation of an ancient ninja warrior, doomed to die violently and be reborn again and again. Fragments of memory persist across lives, manifesting as instinct, déjà vu, and flashes of past battles.
Avenger has begun to experience these echoes—and is determined to break the cycle.
