Nightshade is the Earth name given to Kziss Kzan Shii, a diminutive alien security officer from a tree-dwelling species known for their agility, senses, and adaptability. Stranded on Earth after a violent mutiny aboard his vessel, Nightshade has made an unlikely life for himself in New York City as both scavenger and superhero.
Background
[edit]Kziss Kzan Shii served as a security officer aboard an alien spacecraft passing through the Sol system. During a mutiny, he was forcibly ejected from the ship and sent plummeting toward Earth.
He survived.
Barely.
Landing in New York City, injured but alive, Kziss adapted quickly. With no support, no resources, and no way home, he relied on instinct, training, and a surprising ability to make do with whatever he could find. That mostly meant scavenging.
He discovered garbage.
Garbage was good.
Life On Earth
[edit]Over time, Kziss—now called Nightshade by those who encountered him—learned the rhythms of the city. He found places to hide, ways to move unseen, and eventually, people who accepted him despite his unusual habits and communication style.
Though unable to speak English, Nightshade understands it perfectly. He communicates through a rapid series of clicks, squeaks, and expressive body language, which those close to him learn to interpret with surprising accuracy.
He also never entirely lost his professional instincts.
The Outcasts
[edit]Nightshade’s abilities and unpredictable effectiveness eventually brought him into contact with the Outcasts, a team known for accepting unconventional members. He joined them for a time, contributing his skills as a scout, infiltrator, and close-quarters combatant.
His tenure with the team was marked by both success and confusion, as teammates learned to work alongside someone who could dismantle a security system one moment and dive into a dumpster the next.

[edit]Among those who have worked with him, Nightshade is regarded as both invaluable and unpredictable. His ability to move unseen, sense danger, and operate in tight spaces makes him an exceptional operative, particularly in urban environments.
Among the general public, he is often mistaken for something else entirely.
