Andrews International

[edit]

"We do not merely build the machines of tomorrow. We build the world that will need them."

Andrews International is one of the largest defense, aerospace, and advanced engineering corporations in the world. Founded by aviation pioneer Howard Andrews before the Second World War, the company grew from a bold aircraft concern into a globe-spanning industrial power whose factories, laboratories, test ranges, orbital facilities, and research divisions have helped shape the modern age.

Headquartered in New York City’s landmark Andrews Building, Andrews International remains closely associated with high-performance aircraft, satellites, weapons systems, aerospace vehicles, and experimental technologies. Its clients have included the United States government, the Isolan government, PHASE II, and numerous allied agencies whose work depends upon technology too advanced, too dangerous, or too politically sensitive for ordinary contractors.

History

[edit]

Andrews International began as the personal vision of Howard Andrews, a brilliant and ambitious aviation pioneer who believed aircraft would define the future of war, travel, commerce, and national power. By the Golden Age, Andrews aircraft were already known for speed, durability, and daring design. Wartime contracts transformed the company from an innovative manufacturer into a major defense concern, and Howard Andrews became one of the central industrial figures of his generation.

During the Silver Age, Andrews International expanded beyond conventional aviation into rocketry, orbital systems, advanced propulsion, and exotic materials. The company’s research divisions became regular participants in the broader super-scientific culture of the age, sometimes working alongside government agencies, sometimes competing with them, and sometimes creating technologies that drew the attention of heroes, villains, and foreign powers alike.

In the Modern Age, Andrews International is a massive multinational corporation with interests in aerospace, cybernetics, defense systems, security platforms, satellite networks, robotics, and high-energy engineering. Its size and influence make it both indispensable and controversial. Andrews products protect nations, launch heroes into the sky, and keep dangerous threats contained, but its reach also raises uncomfortable questions about private power in a world filled with superhuman conflict.

Operations

[edit]

Andrews International specializes in advanced aircraft, satellites, weapons systems, aerospace vehicles, and related technologies. Its public-facing divisions produce military aircraft, communications satellites, avionics, secure transport systems, and defense platforms. Its classified divisions are rumored to work on far more exotic projects, including metahuman countermeasures, orbital weapons, compact power systems, advanced armor, and experimental propulsion.

The corporation maintains offices and factories across the world, though its symbolic heart remains the Andrews Building in New York City. The building serves as world headquarters, executive command center, and public monument to the company’s legacy.

Leadership

[edit]

The corporation is currently led by Michael Andrews, a descendant of Howard Andrews and better known to the public as The Gauntlet. His dual identity as both corporate heir and superhero places Andrews International in a unique position within the Crucible Universe. To admirers, Michael represents the best of the Andrews legacy: courage, responsibility, innovation, and service. To critics, he embodies the uncomfortable merger of private industry, superhuman power, and global security.

Legacy

[edit]

Andrews International is woven deeply into the history of the Crucible Universe. Its aircraft flew in the Golden Age, its advanced systems helped define the Silver Age, and its modern technologies continue to appear in the hands of heroes, governments, and security agencies across the world. The company is not merely a manufacturer but a recurring institution in the age of wonders: a place where genius, money, danger, ambition, and heroism meet under one corporate seal.
