Crucible:Danger International

Danger International
[edit]"Periculosum est, eamus. (It's dangerous. Let's go.)"
Danger International is a globe-spanning private security, investigations, salvage, rescue, and recovery company headquartered in the Florida Keys. Equal parts mercenary outfit, rescue operation, adventure syndicate, and disaster magnet, Danger International has earned an international reputation for accepting missions too dangerous, bizarre, or politically sensitive for conventional agencies to touch.
Founded and led by former PHASE II operative Dominic DeFate, the organization promises one thing above all else:
Results.
How much collateral damage accompanies those results is another matter entirely.
History
[edit]Danger International was founded after Dominic DeFate left PHASE II following a long and controversial career in covert operations, field intelligence, and international crisis response. Frustrated by bureaucracy, political interference, and institutional caution, DeFate assembled a handpicked network of soldiers, pilots, mechanics, investigators, infiltrators, and technical specialists capable of operating outside traditional structures.
DeFate’s greatest talent was never simply that he could survive impossible missions, though he often did. His real gift was knowing exactly who to bring along. Danger International was built around that talent: not a conventional chain of command, but a rolling constellation of experts chosen for the crisis at hand.
The organization began modestly, taking recovery contracts, investigative work, salvage jobs, and high-risk transport missions throughout the Caribbean and South America. Over time, its reputation spread as mission after mission spiraled into massive firefights, collapsing fortresses, volcanic eruptions, rogue AI incidents, pirate attacks, alien artifacts, or city-level catastrophes.
Against all probability, the team usually survived.
Their growing notoriety eventually transformed Danger International into a full-scale global operations company specializing in dangerous assignments no sane contractor would willingly accept.
Operations
[edit]Danger International handles an enormous variety of missions, including:
- Investigations
- High-risk rescues
- Maritime salvage
- Counter-terrorism operations
- Artifact recovery
- Jungle expeditions
- Covert extraction
- Anti-piracy operations
- Security contracts
- Crisis intervention
- Exploration of lost ruins and hostile territories
- Recovery of crashed aircraft, experimental vehicles, and classified technology
The organization frequently operates in unstable regions where governments, corporations, or intelligence agencies require plausible deniability. While technically a private company, Danger International often becomes involved in events with global consequences entirely by accident.
Or because Dominic DeFate accepted another terrible idea for a paycheck.
Reputation
[edit]Danger International has cultivated a reputation for swashbuckling, barely controlled chaos. Their operations routinely involve high-speed chases, collapsing temples, exploding boats, airborne firefights, improvised plans, and catastrophic collateral damage.
To critics, the organization is reckless and dangerously theatrical.
To clients, they are often the only people willing to attempt impossible missions.
To PHASE II, they are an irritation, a resource, and an embarrassment in roughly equal measure. Sabertooth has repeatedly attempted to lure DeFate back into official service. He has repeatedly declined.
The company’s survival rate, despite the absurdity of its assignments, remains astonishingly high.
Headquarters
[edit]Danger International operates from a heavily fortified island facility in the Florida Keys that serves as headquarters, operations center, vehicle depot, marina, aircraft hangar, and repair yard.
The base houses a constantly changing collection of helicopters, boats, submersibles, armored vehicles, seaplanes, experimental equipment, and partially destroyed machinery awaiting repair after the team’s latest mission.
The surrounding docks are infamous for unexplained explosions.
Personnel
[edit]Danger International’s core field team consists of elite operatives recruited from military, intelligence, law enforcement, engineering, salvage, and technical backgrounds. None of the regular members are superhuman. Their reputation rests on training, nerve, improvisation, and an almost supernatural ability to be standing somewhere else when everything explodes.
Former PHASE II operative, veteran intelligence officer, and architect of Danger International. DeFate is known for impossible improvisation, questionable judgment, and an uncanny ability to survive disasters that should kill everyone involved. His real genius lies in knowing exactly who to recruit, who to trust, and who to send into the worst possible situation.
Harvey O'Sullivan is a veteran of the PHASE I global army and serves as one of the team’s primary combat specialists. Gruff, experienced, and nearly indestructible, Sully is often the only voice of practicality during operations.
Vincent Storm is the team’s weapons expert, demolitions specialist, and enthusiastic advocate for solving problems with excessive firepower. Blitz is rarely the safest option, but he is often the loudest and fastest.
Qing Su is a former PHASE II commando specializing in close-quarters combat, tactical operations, and covert infiltration. Precise, disciplined, and dangerous, Suzy Q is often the team’s most efficient field operative.
Slavian Slovatsky is a stealth and infiltration expert with extensive experience in espionage, black operations, and disappearing before the explosions start. If Nightfall is visible, it is usually because he wants to be.
George Grand serves as Danger International’s primary pilot and vehicle specialist. He can operate almost anything with an engine, wings, rotors, wheels, treads, or an alarming lack of safety certification, usually at unsafe speeds.
Kobe Kagetoki is a veteran peacekeeping soldier and tactical operative known for cunning fieldcraft and dry humor under pressure. Kitsune brings patience, discipline, and a talent for making the enemy solve the wrong problem.
Delphine Archimbault is an expert diver, marine pilot, and aquatic operations specialist capable of handling underwater salvage, infiltration, and combat missions. When the job involves wrecks, submarines, offshore platforms, or anything beneath the waves, Dolphin is indispensable.
Kevin Fox is the team’s information systems and technical expert, responsible for hacking, surveillance, communications, data recovery, and keeping the organization’s chaotic infrastructure operational despite everyone else’s best efforts.
Cass Lombardi serves as the organization’s mechanic, engineer, and logistical miracle worker. If Danger International somehow survives another catastrophic mission, Mama Cass probably rebuilt the vehicles afterward.
Legacy
[edit]Danger International occupies a strange place within the Crucible Universe. They are neither traditional superheroes nor ordinary mercenaries. Instead, they exist somewhere between pulp adventurers, covert operatives, salvage contractors, and disaster tourists with military-grade equipment.
Wherever lost treasures, collapsing civilizations, secret wars, missing prototypes, classified wreckage, or impossible missions appear, Danger International is rarely far behind.
And wherever Danger International goes, explosions usually follow.
