Doctor Data is the field identity of Dr. Charles Dayton, a Nova Prize–winning computer scientist whose work in information systems and force-field technology has made him one of the most advanced technical minds operating alongside modern heroes. Background

His reputation brought him to the attention of the Cadre, a covert group of scientists who presented themselves as visionaries dedicated to improving the world through technology.
Dayton initially accepted their offer, believing in the stated goal.
It did not take long for him to recognize the truth.
The Cadre’s ambitions extended far beyond reform. Their intent was control—systematic, technological, and global. Dayton turned against them, using his own expertise to undermine their operations and escape their reach. The experience left a lasting impression, and he committed himself to preventing similar groups from gaining power.
Watchstar West
