Electrocutioner is the criminal identity of Anthony Maldonado, a disgraced electrical engineer turned mob executioner who uses a deadly high-voltage combat suit to terrorize enemies of organized crime. Feared throughout Chicago’s underworld for his cruelty and theatrical brutality, Electrocutioner became one of the city’s most notorious hired killers and a recurring enemy of the Furies.
Background
[edit]Anthony Maldonado grew up amid the decaying industrial neighborhoods and gang-controlled streets of Chicago, where violence and corruption were simply facts of life. Intelligent and technically gifted, Maldonado escaped much of the poverty surrounding him through academic achievement, eventually becoming a highly promising electrical engineer specializing in industrial power systems and experimental energy-transfer technologies.
For a brief time, it appeared he might build a legitimate future.
Then came the accident.
While conducting a risky experimental test involving advanced electrical transfer systems, Maldonado’s project malfunctioned catastrophically, causing multiple deaths and severe injuries. Though the exact causes remain disputed, the scandal destroyed his professional reputation. Blacklisted within the engineering community and consumed by bitterness, Maldonado became convinced he had been sacrificed by corporations and regulators eager to protect themselves.
Unable to return to legitimate work, he drifted into organized crime.
