Background
[edit]Kathleen “Kathy” Hepburn King is one of the best-known reporters in Unity City and a longtime journalist for the Unity City Star. Fearless, relentless, and endlessly curious, Kathy built her reputation by chasing stories others were too cautious—or too sensible—to pursue.
Whether covering alien invasions, supervillain attacks, political corruption, scientific disasters, or strange phenomena erupting across the city skyline, Kathy always seems to be exactly where the action is happening. Her uncanny instinct for major stories has made her one of the most respected journalists of the Silver Age era.
Unfortunately for her personal safety, Kathy also possesses a remarkable tendency to become directly involved in the dangerous situations she investigates. Kidnappings, collapsing laboratories, secret criminal hideouts, death traps, and rampaging monsters have all become routine occupational hazards.
No matter the danger, Kathy always gets the story.
For many years, Kathy has also maintained a romantic relationship with Thunder Dragon, leader of the Unity League. The relationship has long been the subject of gossip within both media and superhero circles, though Kathy has consistently refused to allow her personal life to interfere with her reporting.

[edit]Kathy is an exceptionally talented investigative journalist with excellent instincts, sharp interviewing skills, and a determination that borders on reckless courage.
She is intelligent, resourceful, persistent, and almost impossible to intimidate once she begins pursuing a lead.
Although frequently endangered by her profession, Kathy remains remarkably composed under pressure and has developed a practical understanding of the superhuman world through years of firsthand experience.
