Lotus is the name taken by a fallen Lord of Order who abandoned immortality, stole a mortal body, and has spent years attempting to atone for both his ancient crimes and the more immediate sin that allowed him to walk among humanity. Now one of Earth’s most powerful sorcerers, Lotus serves as leader of Nexus, guiding others against supernatural threats he once might have ignored—or caused.
Origin
[edit]Lotus was once one of the so-called Lords of Order, a race or caste of godlike beings whose power allowed them to shape events far beyond mortal understanding. For millennia, he shared in their hedonistic existence, living beyond consequence and at the expense of lesser beings.
Eventually, something in him changed. Whether it was guilt, weariness, disgust, or a genuine awakening of conscience, Lotus turned away from his kind and fled into the mortal realm.
His escape was not noble.
To survive there, he took possession of the body of a criminal named Lawrence Templeton. The act destroyed or displaced Templeton’s soul, leaving Lotus with a mortal form and an immediate crime for which no later good deed could fully compensate.
Mortal Exile
[edit]In Templeton’s body, Lotus found his cosmic power greatly diminished, though still far beyond the reach of most human sorcerers. Stripped of his former place among the Lords of Order, he began using magic against the very forms of evil he had once enabled through indifference and indulgence.
His life since then has been shaped by atonement. He fights demons, hostile gods, corrupted sorcerers, and occult conspiracies, but always with the knowledge that his own existence rests on an unforgivable act.
Nexus
[edit]Lotus eventually became the leader of Nexus, an organization dedicated to confronting supernatural and occult dangers. His knowledge of higher beings, arcane systems, and cosmic politics makes him uniquely suited to that role, though his leadership is marked by restraint rather than certainty.
He understands temptation too well to trust power easily, including his own.
Powers
[edit]In mortal form, Lotus remains an extraordinarily powerful sorcerer.

[edit]Lotus is grave, controlled, and burdened by memory. He is capable of kindness, but it is not easy kindness; it comes from discipline and chosen restraint rather than innocence. He does not pretend that atonement erases guilt, and he has little patience for beings who claim their power places them beyond morality.
He knows better.
He used to be one of them.
Reputation
[edit]Among mystics, Lotus is respected and distrusted in equal measure. His knowledge is invaluable, his power undeniable, and his motives apparently sincere. Still, his past as one of the Lords of Order—and his theft of Lawrence Templeton’s body—remain central to how others view him.
Within Nexus, he is regarded as a leader whose wisdom was purchased at terrible cost.
Legacy
[edit]Lotus is a figure of contradiction: a protector born from violation, an atoner whose existence is itself a wound, and a former god learning the moral weight of a single human soul.
He cannot undo what he was.
He can only decide, again and again, what he will be now.
