The Naval Undersea Commandos, commonly abbreviated NUCs and popularly known as the Nukes, are an elite United States Navy special operations force specializing in maritime warfare, underwater infiltration, covert assault, and high-risk global operations.
Widely regarded as one of the most dangerous and capable military units in the world, the NUCs operate in environments where ordinary special forces cannot survive: beneath the ocean, inside hostile ports, aboard moving vessels, within flooded structures, and in contested coastal zones across the globe.
Their existence remains officially acknowledged.
The full extent of their operations does not.
Origins
[edit]The NUCs were established during the escalating geopolitical tensions of the Cold War and rapidly evolved into a specialized force designed for covert maritime operations in hostile and unconventional environments.

Most famously, NUC Team 1 worked alongside several superheroes during the final operation against the supervillain Sargon. The mission, involving underwater combat, advanced weaponry, and catastrophic structural collapse, became one of the defining military-superhero collaborations of its era.
The operation cemented the NUCs’ reputation as one of the few conventional military organizations capable of operating effectively beside superheroes during extreme crises.

A controversial former NUC whose later career brought him into increasingly dangerous and morally ambiguous territory.
Later known publicly as Peacemaker, Carter’s NUC background heavily influenced his tactical methods and military professionalism.
