“Little man...I do not need the light to find you.”
— Shadowboxer
Shadowboxer is the criminal identity of Gregori Bulganov, a former Russian Spetsnaz soldier and mercenary enhanced by the Shadow power of Ahriman. Silent, disciplined, and brutally efficient, he serves as Ahriman’s bodyguard, enforcer, and field operative.
Origin
[edit]Gregori Bulganov served in Russian special operations before becoming a mercenary. The details of his military career remain classified by the Russian Federation, and even partial accounts suggest a record marked by covert action, deniable missions, and violence carried out far from public scrutiny.
After leaving official service, Bulganov entered the international mercenary world. His reputation was not built on flamboyance or notoriety, but on reliability. He was the sort of man hired when a job required discipline, silence, and no witnesses.
Service To Ahriman
[edit]Bulganov eventually entered the service of Dr. Louis D'Argent, better known as Ahriman. In Ahriman, he found a master whose ambitions required protection, intimidation, and force applied with surgical precision.
Ahriman, in turn, found in Bulganov an ideal subject for Shadow enhancement. Already physically formidable and psychologically hardened, Bulganov could be made into something more than human without losing the military discipline that made him useful.
As Shadowboxer, he became Ahriman’s personal guard and most trusted instrument of violence.
Powers
[edit]Shadowboxer’s body has been enhanced through Ahriman’s control of the Shadow force.
- Enhanced Strength – Possesses strength beyond normal human limits
- Enhanced Durability – Can withstand punishment that would incapacitate an ordinary soldier
- Darkvision – Can see clearly in complete darkness
- Shadow Resilience – His altered body is reinforced by Shadow energy
These enhancements make him especially dangerous in darkness or enclosed spaces, where his senses and durability give him a decisive advantage.
Skills
[edit]Shadowboxer is an extremely capable combatant.
- Former Russian Spetsnaz operative
- Expert in firearms and military weapons
- Highly trained hand-to-hand fighter
- Skilled in stealth, infiltration, and close protection
- Experienced mercenary and battlefield professional
- Trained in surveillance, counter-surveillance, and tactical movement
He is not a brawler, despite his size and strength. He fights like a professional soldier: directly, efficiently, and without wasted motion.
Technology
[edit]Shadowboxer uses practical military equipment suited to close protection and covert operations.
- Tactical body armor
- Firearms and combat knives
- Communications gear
- Night operations equipment
- Concealed weapons
His Shadow-enhanced vision and durability allow him to operate with less support than most soldiers, but he remains a trained operator who understands the value of proper equipment.
Personality
[edit]Gregori Bulganov is quiet, controlled, and difficult to read. He rarely speaks unless necessary, and when he does, his words are brief and precise.
He does not appear to share Ahriman’s theatrical philosophy of darkness, but he serves him with grim loyalty. Whether this loyalty comes from payment, fear, debt, or Shadow influence is unclear.
What is clear is that Shadowboxer does not hesitate. Once ordered into action, he proceeds with cold professional certainty.
Legacy
[edit]Shadowboxer is not a mastermind, prophet, or would-be ruler. He is something more immediate and terrifying: the man standing between Ahriman and anyone who would oppose him.
His presence makes Ahriman more dangerous, allowing the Lord of Darkness to scheme behind a living wall of military discipline and Shadow-enhanced violence.
Where Ahriman commands the dark, Shadowboxer waits inside it.
