Background

[edit]

Before becoming known to New York’s superhero community as Sheila Pugnatowski, she lived a rough and chaotic life on the fringes of Las Vegas entertainment and organized crime.

Originally a foxy boxer with a long history of bad decisions and dangerous associates, Sheila eventually entered into a disastrous arrangement with mob-connected figures who financed illegal cybernetic enhancement surgery. The resulting cyber-muscle implants transformed her into a physically formidable superhuman, granting immense strength and speed.

The deal inevitably collapsed in violence and betrayal.

Forced onto the run, Sheila adopted the identity of Knockout and entered the world of costumed crime. During this period, she became romantically involved with the villain Mister Frost and joined the low-level supervillain group known as the Desperadoes.

The team embarked on a lengthy but generally unsuccessful criminal career.

Everything changed during a confrontation with Kodiak and Jade. During the conflict, Sheila unexpectedly developed feelings for Kodiak and ultimately turned against her fellow villains, helping the heroes bring the Desperadoes down.

Following her arrest, Kodiak personally advocated for Sheila’s rehabilitation. While serving her prison sentence, she pursued education and worked to rebuild her life. After her release, Kodiak offered her legitimate employment at his rebuilt New York establishment, the Bear’s Den.

With Kodiak’s continued support and public testimony, Sheila eventually received a full pardon for her past crimes.

Since then, she has remained entirely legitimate, openly regretting her years as Knockout and building a stable civilian life. She also became godmother to Kodiak’s daughter, Dakota.

Although retired from supervillainy, Sheila occasionally assists Kodiak during emergencies when her abilities are needed.

Powers And Abilities

[edit]

Sheila’s cyber-muscle implants permanently grant her superhuman strength, enhanced reflexes, and increased physical speed and durability.

Although she no longer operates as a costumed criminal, she remains physically dangerous when provoked.

During her years as Knockout, Sheila was also a skilled boxer and street fighter.

Personality

[edit]

Older and wiser than during her criminal years, Sheila is practical, warm-hearted, bluntly honest, and deeply protective of the people she cares about.

She retains a rough-edged sense of humor and little patience for pretension, but beneath her tough exterior she carries considerable guilt over her former life.

Sheila is fiercely loyal to Kodiak and his extended family. She refers to him as "Da Bawss".

Notes

[edit]

Sheila became one of the more notable redemption stories in the Crucible Universe, evolving from a relatively minor supervillain into a beloved supporting character associated with the KODIAK series and its extended cast.
