Timothy "Timmo" Farnsworth is an adventurer, explorer, amateur scientist, and one of the strangest enigmas in the Crucible Universe. Although he possesses no obvious superhuman abilities, Timmo repeatedly demonstrates impossible insight into history, science, languages, engineering, magic, and even future events.
Timmo himself has no explanation for these flashes of understanding.
History
[edit]Little is known about Timothy "Timmo" Farnsworth before his first documented appearances in the late Modern Age. Although outwardly an ordinary young man with a passion for science, history, archaeology, and the occult, Timmo quickly developed a reputation among the superhero community for solving problems no one else could explain.
Heroes and scientists alike discovered that Timmo possessed an extraordinary intuition. Faced with an unknown language, an alien machine, an impossible equation, or an ancient magical artifact, he would often produce the correct answer seemingly by instinct. When asked how he knew, his answer was invariably the same.
"I don't know."
His growing friendship with Arcana, Doctor Omega, PHASE II researchers, and several members of Watchstar only deepened the mystery surrounding him. Each became convinced Timmo was accessing knowledge no ordinary human should possess.
Timmo himself remained unconvinced. He insists he is simply "good at figuring things out." As impossible incidents accumulated around him, however, even he began to suspect something stranger was occurring.
He occasionally recognized complete strangers.
He dreamed of places that did not exist.
He sometimes remembered conversations that no one else recalled having.
Most disturbing of all, he increasingly found himself solving problems without understanding how he had reached the solution.
Rather than frightening him, Timmo accepted these moments with characteristic good humor.
"Maybe my subconscious is smarter than I am."
Powers and Abilities
[edit]Timmo possesses no conventional superhuman powers.
Instead, he appears to have intermittent access to an impossible reservoir of knowledge.
Information arrives unexpectedly as intuition, dreams, sudden inspiration, or an overwhelming certainty that something is true.
Neither Timmo nor anyone who has studied him has discovered what governs these episodes.
Among the abilities he has demonstrated are:
- Instant comprehension of unknown languages.
- Extraordinary aptitude for mathematics and engineering.
- Intuitive understanding of magical theory.
- Recognition of temporal anomalies.
- Awareness of alternate realities.
- Insight into alien technology.
- Occasional glimpses of future events.
- Exceptional deductive reasoning.
Unlike most metahumans, Timmo cannot consciously control these abilities. They simply happen when they happen.
Personality
[edit]Cheerful, endlessly curious, and almost impossible to discourage, Timmo approaches the unknown with excitement rather than fear.
He dislikes violence and prefers solving problems through intelligence, compassion, and creativity.
His greatest frustration is not what he does not know.
It is the growing suspicion that he has somehow forgotten far more than anyone else has ever learned.
"All These Books..."
[edit]Timmo once described his own mind with a simple analogy.
"Imagine every book ever written...
...but somebody threw away the card catalog."
The comparison has become a favorite among those who know him.
Timmo appears to possess access to an unimaginable body of knowledge, but almost no ability to retrieve specific information on demand. Instead, answers seem to emerge only when circumstances require them.
Doctor Julian Li has theorized that Timmo's brain functions less as a storage device than as a receiver connected to an unknown source of information beyond conventional space-time.
Arcana believes his subconscious may be touching something older than magic itself.
Timmo considers both explanations "kind of creepy."

Behind the Mystery
[edit]Unknown to Timmo, he is one incarnation of a singular consciousness that echoes throughout countless realities.
Most incarnations live ordinary lives.
Some become explorers.
Some become inventors.
Some become wizards.
Few ever discover the truth.
Earth-11717's Timmo has not.
Yet.
