Background

[edit]

Wesley “Wes” Sugarman Miles is one of the most recognizable media personalities associated with the superhero community on the American West Coast. Charismatic, fearless, and seemingly magnetically attracted to dangerous situations, Wes built his reputation as a television reporter covering superhuman activity throughout California and beyond.

To Los Angeles audiences, he became especially famous as the energetic host of the investigative television series Wes Wes Wes!, a sensational mix of journalism, exposés, celebrity interviews, conspiracy investigations, and superhero coverage. Wes developed extensive connections within the West Coast hero community and became both a trusted media figure and an occasional nuisance to the people he covered.

Beneath his polished media image, however, Wes repeatedly demonstrated genuine courage and loyalty.

After his close friend, the superhero Stingray, was murdered by the villain Azrael, Wes secretly took up Stingray’s battle armor and identity in order to avenge him. Operating alongside Watchstar West, he entered the dangerous world of active superheroics despite lacking formal combat training.

Following Azrael’s eventual defeat and arrest, Wes retired from direct hero work and returned to journalism, though his experiences permanently changed him.

In recent years, Wes became the host of HeroTalk, a weekly interview and discussion program devoted entirely to superheroes, supervillains, and the growing cultural impact of the superhuman world.

The Fire Demon Rumors

[edit]

One of the strangest controversies surrounding Wes Miles stems from a bizarre storyline suggesting that he was secretly a “fire demon” originating from another world, alternate dimension, or similarly inexplicable source.

Although the incident was later dismissed as a dream sequence, holographic simulation, psychological manipulation, or possibly all three simultaneously, rumors have stubbornly persisted among conspiracy theorists and comic fans alike.

Wes himself generally refuses to discuss the subject.

Skills And Personality

[edit]

Wes is an exceptionally charismatic broadcaster and investigative journalist with extensive contacts throughout the superhero and entertainment communities of the West Coast.

He possesses an eidetic memory, remarkable improvisational instincts, and what many people insist is almost supernatural luck. Explosions, alien invasions, collapsing buildings, demonic incursions, and supervillain attacks somehow tend to occur near him with alarming frequency—yet Wes almost always survives.

He is charming, quick-witted, courageous, and far more determined than his flashy television persona initially suggests.

Technology

[edit]

Wes drives a customized Corvette Stingray, reflecting both his flamboyant public image and his continuing connection to the legacy of Stingray.

Notes

[edit]

Wes Miles became one of the defining media personalities of the Modern Age Crucible Universe, bridging the worlds of journalism, celebrity culture, and superheroics while maintaining strong ties to California’s hero community.
