Deathwing is a powerful demonic prince whose manipulations, temptations, and magical schemes have repeatedly brought him into conflict with Hex. Elegant, sardonic, and monstrously dangerous, Deathwing moves through the mortal world with the confidence of a being who regards humanity as both entertainment and prey.

Whether he truly is, as he claims, “the black sheep son of Satan,” remains uncertain. Demons are not generally regarded as reliable sources.

Background

Very little can be stated with certainty about Deathwing’s true origins. Accounts of his activities stretch across centuries, often appearing at moments of catastrophe, corruption, or occult upheaval. He has been linked to infernal cults, forbidden bargains, unexplained disappearances, and magical disasters in numerous countries.

Deathwing himself delights in offering contradictory stories about his past. On some occasions he claims to be an exiled prince of Hell. On others he presents himself as a wandering tempter, a fallen angel, or even a misunderstood philosopher unfairly maligned by theology.

The only consistent feature in these stories is that Deathwing always casts himself in the most entertaining role.

Enemy Of Hex

Deathwing’s long-running conflict with Hex has become one of the defining occult rivalries of the modern age. Their clashes are rarely simple battles of magical force. More often they involve bargains, manipulations, curses, possession, temptation, and carefully arranged catastrophes designed to undermine Hex spiritually as well as physically.

Deathwing seems to regard Hex with a mixture of irritation, fascination, and genuine amusement. Though he has attempted to destroy him many times, he also appears to enjoy the ongoing contest.

To Deathwing, mortal resistance is part of the game.

Nature Of The Demon

As with many infernal beings, separating truth from performance where Deathwing is concerned is nearly impossible. He is a consummate liar, capable of shifting appearance, personality, and motives with unsettling ease. Witnesses have described him appearing as a handsome aristocrat, a horned beast, a grieving child, a priest, a beautiful woman, and even as trusted friends or loved ones.

Whether any of these forms reflect his true appearance is unknown.

It is entirely possible that even Deathwing no longer remembers.

At the same time, he possesses a strange sophistication and wit that can make him disturbingly likable in conversation. Deathwing genuinely enjoys mortal culture, perhaps because it offers so many opportunities for excess, vanity, and self-destruction.

He is capable of terrible violence, but often prefers subtler forms of damnation.

Deathwing stands among the great infernal adversaries of the modern occult world, a recurring threat whose influence extends far beyond direct confrontation. His schemes have touched politicians, cult leaders, criminals, artists, and ordinary people unlucky enough to attract his attention.

Whether prince, liar, or both, Deathwing remains one of the few beings even experienced occultists speak of with genuine unease.

After all, when a demon tells you he is the son of Satan—the smart response is not to believe him.
