The Birds of Prey are four exiled warriors from Ayura, a world of avian humanoids on the fringes of Karnak space. Cast out from their homeworld after a failed rebellion, they stole an intelligent crystal computer called the Dark Soul and fled into the wider galaxy. With the Dark Soul amplifying their natural abilities and ambitions, the fugitives came to Earth seeking conquest.

The Dark Soul appears to be related to the same crystal matrix that gave Jade her powers, though the precise relationship between the two artifacts remains uncertain. Unlike Jade’s crystal, the Dark Soul is sentient, predatory, and dangerously persuasive, capable of enhancing psionic, physical, and tactical abilities in those who submit to its influence.

The Birds of Prey were first stopped by the Sentries, but returned several times to menace Earth. They later encountered Viceroy and the Liberators in deep space, becoming recurring enemies of that team as well. Their combination of military discipline, alien biology, and Dark Soul enhancement made them far more dangerous than ordinary raiders.

They are currently serving time in a Karnak prison asteroid.

Roster

Osprey
The team’s leader. A former general on Ayura, Osprey possesses a firm command of strategy and tactics and is a skilled combatant in all modes of battle.

Crow
Osprey’s brother and an expert hand-to-hand combatant. He is mute but communicates through gestures. A rare mutation among his people left him with an aversion to bright lights.

Sparrowhawk
Osprey’s mate and the member best able to utilize the mental energies of the Dark Soul, projecting psionic and energetic attacks.

Condor
A powerful warrior who served under Osprey on Ayura. Condor possesses massive strength and durability, both enhanced by the Dark Soul.
