Blade is the codename of Michael “Mikey” DiAngelo, a street-raised parahuman whose explosive psychic abilities transformed him from a bullied teen into one of the most promising young heroes of the Modern Age.

Now the leader of the Avant Guard, Blade stands at the center of a new generation of heroes being trained at Pacific Academy.

Origin

Mikey DiAngelo grew up in one of the roughest neighborhoods in Pacific City. Life was hard, opportunities were few, and survival often depended on toughness and instinct.

As a teenager, he became the target of a local gang. One night, they cornered him in an alley—an encounter that might have ended his life.

Instead, something inside him awakened.

In a moment of fear and desperation, Mikey unleashed a powerful psychic force—a focused mental projection that struck his attackers and left them helpless. He later came to call this ability his “blade.”

From that moment on, everything changed.

Pacific Academy

Mikey’s emerging abilities drew the attention of Dr. Julian Li, headmaster of Pacific Academy, a school dedicated to training young parahumans.

Recognizing both Mikey’s raw power and his potential for growth, Dr. Li offered him a full scholarship.

Mikey accepted.

At the Academy, he found something he had never had before: structure, purpose, and a future. Under Dr. Li’s guidance, he began to refine his abilities and learn to control the power that had once erupted uncontrollably.

The Avant Guard

Blade quickly rose through the ranks of the Academy’s student body, eventually becoming the leader of its super-team, the Avant Guard.

In this role, he balances tactical leadership with frontline combat, often placing himself in the thick of danger. His instincts, shaped by life on the streets, make him a decisive and adaptable leader.

He shares a close bond with his teammate Yeti, with whom he is both roommate and frequent partner in troublemaking.

Powers

Blade is a powerful developing psionic.
