“Ask the right questions and you won’t like the answers.”
— Nightstalker
Nightstalker is the field identity of Daniel Darke, a shadowy operative affiliated with CounterForce and attached to StrikeTeam: Seattle. A figure surrounded by uncertainty and half-truths, he claims to be a product of the same experimental super-soldier program that created Diehard.
Whether that claim is entirely accurate remains unclear.
Background
[edit]Very little about Daniel Darke can be independently verified. According to his own account, he was subjected to an experimental military enhancement program designed to produce elite soldiers with superior physical capabilities. The program reportedly pushed its subjects beyond normal limits, both physically and psychologically.
Darke does not speak about what he did during that time.
What is known is that he eventually emerged from that world and sought out CounterForce, presenting himself not as a weapon, but as a man attempting to account for the violence in his past. He was accepted into the organization and assigned to StrikeTeam: Seattle, where his skills proved immediately useful.
His past, however, followed him.
CounterForce
[edit]Within StrikeTeam: Seattle, Nightstalker operates as a reconnaissance and infiltration specialist. He prefers to work alone or at the edges of a team formation, handling surveillance, silent entry, and pre-engagement positioning before others move in.
He is reliable.
He is not approachable.
Powers
[edit]Nightstalker possesses enhanced speed and reaction time.
- Superhuman Speed – Moves and reacts faster than normal human limits
- Enhanced Reflexes – Exceptional response time in combat situations
His abilities favor precision and timing rather than raw power.
Skills
[edit]Nightstalker is a highly trained operative.
- Expert in hand-to-hand combat
- Stealth and infiltration specialist
- Intelligence and reconnaissance training
- Tactical movement and silent engagement
He is most effective when unseen.
Technology
[edit]Nightstalker favors minimal, mission-specific gear. His equipment is typically optimized for stealth, mobility, and efficiency, with little interest in excess or display.
Personality
[edit]Daniel Darke is reserved, controlled, and difficult to read. He avoids unnecessary conversation and keeps his distance from teammates, not out of hostility but out of habit. There is a sense that he measures every word before speaking and every action before taking it.
He does not ask for trust.
He does not offer it easily.
Reputation
[edit]Among CounterForce personnel, Nightstalker is regarded as someone who gets results without drawing attention. His presence is often unnoticed until it becomes necessary, and his absence rarely means he is far away.
Among those who have encountered him in the field, there is a common impression that he was there long before anyone realized it.
Legacy
[edit]Nightstalker represents a familiar pattern in the modern era: a man shaped by systems designed to create something efficient and expendable, who instead chose to redirect that training toward something else.
Whether he is seeking redemption or simply continuing the only life he knows remains an open question.
