“Some people see fire and run. I see it… and stay. The fire..speaks to me.”
Blowtorch

Blowtorch is the incendiary identity of Marion Weathers, a pyromaniac whose lifelong obsession with fire has driven him to become one of the most destructive arsonists in the modern era. Armed with custom-built weapons and an unshakable fascination with flame, he commits acts of destruction not for profit, but for personal satisfaction.

Origin

[edit]

Marion Weathers’ obsession with fire began in childhood. He was captivated by its movement, its heat, and its ability to consume everything in its path. What began as fascination quickly escalated into compulsion.

His first major act was the destruction of his family’s farm, an event he reportedly watched with intense focus rather than fear or remorse. From there, he expanded his targets, setting fires across neighboring properties simply to experience the spectacle again.

Eventually, Weathers was institutionalized. For a time, it appeared that his behavior might be contained.

It was not.

He escaped—but not before setting fire to the institution itself. He remained on site as it burned, watching as the flames spread and claiming dozens of lives in the process.

Becoming Blowtorch

[edit]

Following his escape, Weathers refined his obsession through study. He taught himself the chemistry of combustion, fuel mixtures, and explosive reactions, transforming his fixation into technical expertise.

Using this knowledge, he developed a specialized weapon capable of producing sustained, high-temperature flame. With it, he adopted the identity of Blowtorch.

Now equipped with both the means and the will, he began a new phase of destruction—no longer limited by circumstance, but guided by design.

Encounters And Survival

[edit]

Blowtorch’s activities eventually drew the attention of the vigilante Peacemaker, who confronted him in a violent encounter that appeared to end in Weathers’ death.

However, Blowtorch later resurfaced, his survival unexplained. Whether he endured through sheer resilience, preparation, or circumstance remains unknown.

What is clear is that he returned unchanged.

S.W.A.T.

[edit]

Blowtorch later aligned himself with S.W.A.T., a weapons-focused team that values destructive capability. His expertise with fire-based weaponry makes him a natural fit within the group, where he serves as an area-denial and devastation specialist.

Skills

[edit]

Marion Weathers is a self-taught but highly capable technician.

  • Advanced knowledge of pyrotechnics and combustion chemistry
  • Skilled mechanic capable of designing and maintaining custom weaponry
  • Experience with explosives and incendiary devices
  • Practical understanding of fire behavior in various environments

His expertise allows him to maximize the destructive potential of his tools.

Technology

[edit]

Blowtorch relies on specialized equipment designed for extreme heat and flame projection.

  • Flame Projector – Fires streams of atomized petrochemicals at temperatures of thousands of degrees
  • Fuel Systems – Sustained combustion capability for prolonged attacks
  • Insulated Suit – Provides protection against intense heat and flames
  • Supplemental incendiary devices and explosives

His equipment allows him to create and control large-scale fires with precision.

Personality

[edit]

Blowtorch is obsessive, focused, and disturbingly calm in the presence of destruction. Fire is not merely a tool to him—it is an experience he seeks repeatedly.

He does not pursue wealth or status. His motivation is singular and deeply ingrained: the need to see things burn.

This makes him particularly dangerous. Without conventional goals, he cannot be reasoned with or redirected.

He is not driven by hate.

He is driven by fascination.

Legacy

[edit]

Blowtorch represents a pure form of destructive compulsion, amplified by intelligence and access to advanced tools. His crimes are not calculated for gain, but enacted for personal fulfillment.

In a world of villains with plans and ambitions, he stands apart.

He does not want power.

He wants fire.

And he will make it.
