Boomerang is the mercenary identity of Jonathan Dunraven, an Australian criminal and thrown-weapons specialist who turned a childhood skill into a lethal profession. Armed with advanced tritanium-edged boomerangs, he has become a dangerous and unpredictable operative in the international underworld.
Origin
[edit]Jonathan “Jonny” Dunraven grew up in the slums of Sydney, Australia, where he learned early that cleverness and quick hands could mean the difference between survival and hunger. As a child, he became fascinated with boomerangs, mastering their use through constant practice and street-level improvisation.
Poverty, rejection, and resentment hardened him. What began as a skill became a tool, and Dunraven eventually drifted into petty crime. Theft, smuggling, and low-level underworld work taught him the criminal trade, but he wanted more than survival.
He wanted recognition.
Becoming Boomerang
[edit]Dunraven’s unusual talents eventually drew the attention of a weapons developer who saw potential in his accuracy and instincts. Equipped with high-tech boomerangs far beyond anything he had used before, Dunraven transformed himself from street thief into professional mercenary.
Taking the name Boomerang, he began accepting high-risk assignments where stealth, distance, and surprise mattered more than brute force.
His reputation grew through secret missions and violent contracts, with opponents never quite knowing where the next strike would come from—or when the weapon would come back.
Mercenary Career
[edit]Boomerang now sells his services to the highest bidder, operating across the criminal underworld as a specialist in assassination, retrieval, intimidation, and sabotage. He is not loyal to causes, nations, or movements. His loyalties are transactional, and his sense of honor rarely survives contact with a better offer.
His methods are cunning rather than flamboyant. He favors ambush, misdirection, and angles of attack that force opponents to defend against threats coming from unexpected directions.
His career has put him into conflict several times with the superhero Rebel.
