Changeling is the superhuman identity of Dr. Patrick Black, a geneticist who merged experimental DNA-altering technology with his own body, granting him the ability to transform into a variety of animal-based forms.
A scientist first and a hero by choice, Changeling stands at the intersection of innovation and restraint—constantly aware that his greatest discoveries could also become his greatest mistakes.
Origin
[edit]Dr. Patrick Black was a pioneering geneticist whose research focused on the manipulation of DNA through advanced computational systems. His breakthrough came in the form of a revolutionary interface: a method of using embedded computer technology to rewrite genetic structure in real time.
He immediately recognized the danger.
Rather than allow his work to fall into the wrong hands, Black took an extreme step—he implanted the technology into his own body, effectively becoming its sole test subject and safeguard.
The result was transformation.
Patrick Black became Changeling.
Powers And Transformation
[edit]With his technology fully integrated into his physiology, Changeling can alter his own genetic structure at will, reshaping himself into a variety of specialized forms.

The Clone Master Legacy
[edit]At the end of his life, the notorious Clone Master passed his vast and dangerous body of knowledge to Changeling.
The inheritance represented both an opportunity and a burden.
Patrick used a portion of that knowledge for good—most notably in developing a cure for a global pandemic, saving countless lives.
But the rest was too dangerous.
Unwilling to risk becoming what Clone Master had been, Changeling made a decisive choice. With the assistance of Surge and Cobra, he destroyed the remaining data completely.
No backups. No recovery.
He chose responsibility over power.
Family
[edit]Patrick Black comes from a lineage tied to heroism and sound-based technology.
His personal life has been equally complicated. He was briefly married to Aldona Smythe-Wellington, later known as the villain Contessa.
