Background
[edit]Margaret “Maggie” Fiona Kempf is the widowed sister of Cyrus Kempf, better known as the vigilante Manhunter. Following the deaths of her sister and brother-in-law, Maggie became part of the unusual household shared by Cyrus and her nephew, Milo Murray, living together in a brownstone owned by Cyrus.
Although Cyrus never formally revealed his secret identity to her, Maggie figured it out on her own almost immediately. As she frequently reminds people, she is “no dummy.”
While Maggie strongly disapproves of her brother’s violent nocturnal activities and remains convinced he is eventually going to get “his fool head blown off,” she nevertheless supports his crusade in her own practical and deeply irritated way.
Whenever necessary, Maggie serves as Manhunter’s unofficial combat medic, patching up bullet wounds, broken ribs, lacerations, stab injuries, and whatever other damage he drags home after another disastrous evening in the field.
Skills And Personality
[edit]Maggie is a highly experienced emergency room nurse accustomed to dealing with severe trauma and high-pressure medical situations. Her practical medical expertise has repeatedly saved Cyrus’ life.
Outside her professional training, Maggie is sharp-witted, fiercely intelligent, and entirely unwilling to tolerate nonsense from anyone. She possesses a famously cantankerous Irish temperament and can verbally dismantle hardened criminals, stubborn vigilantes, and overconfident superheroes with equal efficiency.
She is also a surprisingly capable chess player.
Unfortunately, Maggie is equally famous for being an absolutely terrible cook.
Relationship With Manhunter
[edit]Maggie and Cyrus share a deeply loyal but combative sibling relationship built on mutual affection, exasperation, and constant arguments. Maggie serves as one of the few people willing to openly criticize Manhunter to his face without hesitation.
Despite her complaints, she remains one of the emotional anchors of his life and one of the few people he genuinely trusts.
