Megaburst is the heroic identity of Matthew Munoz, a parahuman capable of generating and manipulating photonic energy. Known for both the power and volatility of his abilities, he rose from a troubled beginning to become a member of Watchstar’s fourth team.
Background
[edit]Matthew Munoz grew up in Puerto Rico, where his parahuman abilities manifested during his teenage years. Unlike many emerging heroes, his powers did not initially make him a protector.
They made him dangerous.
Matthew’s ability to generate and project energy was difficult to control in its early stages. During one incident, triggered by anger and fear, he lost control and seriously injured several of his closest friends. The event became a defining moment in his life.
He made a decision.
Matthew would either master his power—or never use it again.
He chose mastery.
Taking the name Megaburst, he began operating locally as a superhero, focusing on controlled applications of his abilities and avoiding situations that might push him past his limits.
Watchstar
[edit]Megaburst’s growing reputation eventually brought him to the attention of Flux, who recruited him into the fourth incarnation of Watchstar.
Within the team, Megaburst served as a high-output energy specialist, capable of both offensive projection and large-scale illumination. His ability to generate holographic constructs also made him valuable in misdirection and battlefield control.
Despite his power, he remained one of the more disciplined members of the team—driven not by confidence, but by the constant awareness of what could happen if he failed.
