“I don’t have to reach the stars anymore. One of them came down to meet me.”
— Polaris
Polaris is the heroic identity of Ethan Vega, a young metahuman whose powers originate from an alien stellar fragment. A former member of the Supernova Squadron, he represents a new generation of heroes whose abilities are as much a matter of curiosity and discovery as they are of responsibility.
Background
[edit]Ethan Vega grew up in Pacific City, where he developed an early fascination with astronomy. Nights spent studying the sky were less about escape and more about understanding, driven by a persistent sense that the universe was something to be explored rather than simply observed.
That curiosity led him into the wilderness one night beneath an unusually intense aurora, where he discovered the wreckage of an alien craft. Inside was a failing power core, later understood to be a fragment of a dying star, and a pilot who would not survive the crash.
Ethan tried to help.
The core responded.
Transformation
[edit]The stellar fragment fused with Ethan, altering him at a fundamental level. The result was not simply increased power, but a new way of interacting with the forces that shape the physical world. Magnetic fields, normally invisible and abstract, became something he could sense, manipulate, and ride.
The event left him changed, but not overwhelmed.
He approached his new abilities the same way he approached everything else.
By learning.
Supernova Squadron
[edit]As Polaris, Ethan joined the Supernova Squadron, a high school-based team of emerging heroes. There, he gained practical experience in applying his abilities in real-world situations, developing both confidence and control.
He later left the team to attend Pinnacle University, though he continues to operate as a hero while pursuing his studies.
Powers
[edit]Polaris’ abilities center on magnetic and stellar energy manipulation.
- Magnetic Control – Can manipulate magnetic fields to move and shape metal objects
- Magnetic Flight – Travels by riding Earth’s magnetic field lines
- Energy Projection – Generates focused magnetic and light-based blasts
- Light Constructs – Forms visible energy patterns for offense or utility
His powers are versatile, though still developing.
Skills
[edit]Ethan complements his abilities with a strong academic foundation.
- Self-taught chemistry enthusiast
- Analytical problem-solving
- Scientific curiosity applied to field situations
He tends to approach problems as experiments.
Personality
[edit]Ethan Vega is curious, thoughtful, and quietly confident. He does not see his powers as a burden so much as an opportunity to understand something extraordinary. While he takes his responsibilities seriously, he has not lost the sense of wonder that led him to the stars in the first place.
He asks questions.
Then he goes looking for answers.
Reputation
[edit]Among his peers, Polaris is seen as both dependable and unusually adaptable, capable of finding creative solutions where others rely on brute force. His background as a student and his ongoing education shape his approach to heroics, often leading him to think his way through problems rather than charge into them.
Legacy
[edit]Polaris stands at the beginning of his story rather than the end of it. He is a hero still in the process of becoming, shaped by curiosity as much as by circumstance. The power he carries came from a dying star, but what he does with it is very much his own.
