“Saurials do not conquer because they must. Saurials conquer because domination is the only morality they understand.”
— Warlock
The Saurials are among the most feared military powers in the known galaxy, a brutal reptilian species whose campaigns of conquest have devastated entire civilizations across dozens of star systems. Ruthless, expansionist, and technologically sophisticated, the Saurials view all weaker species as natural subjects to be enslaved, exploited, or exterminated.
To the Saurials, peace is merely weakness prolonged.
Though widely regarded as a naturally evolved species by much of the galaxy, the truth is considerably darker. The Saurials are in fact a genetically engineered offshoot of the ancient S'Taa, created long ago through forbidden experimentation intended to produce the ultimate warrior race. The original purpose of the project remains unclear, but the results surpassed even S'Taa expectations. Aggressive instincts were amplified, empathy was largely bred out, and the species developed extraordinary resilience, predatory reflexes, and a deeply hierarchical social structure centered entirely around military dominance.
The experiment eventually escaped all control.
Over centuries the Saurials splintered away from the S'Taa and established their own empire through violence and forced expansion. Entire populations were enslaved to fuel their industrial war machine. Conquered worlds were stripped of resources, reorganized under military governors, and forced to provide soldiers and labor to the growing imperium.
Saurial society is intensely martial. Political authority is inseparable from military rank, and advancement often comes through combat, assassination, or conquest. Their culture glorifies strength, obedience, and domination above all other virtues. Mercy is considered a defect of character. Even among themselves, power struggles are common and often lethal.
Despite their brutality, the Saurials are highly intelligent and technologically advanced. Their fleets possess devastating firepower, advanced genetic sciences, cybernetic augmentation systems, and sophisticated psionic suppression technologies designed to neutralize enemy telepaths and superhumans. Their armies combine overwhelming military discipline with terror tactics intended to psychologically break conquered populations before resistance can organize.
By 3000 AD, the Saurials had become one of the dominant threats to galactic civilization.
Their most infamous campaign began with the invasion of Earth, capital world of the peaceful Terran Union. The assault shattered humanity’s defenses and sent shockwaves across known space. Major cities fell beneath orbital bombardment, millions died during the occupation, and countless others were forced into labor camps or military servitude.
Resistance to Saurial rule eventually coalesced around the legendary superhero team Watchstar 3000, whose members became symbols of hope throughout the occupied territories. Their struggle against the Saurial Imperium would ignite a wider galactic rebellion and permanently alter the balance of power within the Future Age.
