Soulburner is the terrifying fusion of Angelique Ducos and an ancient demonic parasite that has inhabited human hosts for centuries. Existing somewhere between possession, symbiosis, and spiritual corruption, Soulburner is a being of immense occult power whose identity shifts uneasily between the ancient entity itself and the woman who willingly embraced it.
Unlike many victims of demonic possession, Angelique Ducos eventually chose her corruption.
And that choice may have made Soulburner even more dangerous.
The Demon Beneath Paris
[edit]The entity known as Soulburner predates most modern occult records. Ancient texts across Europe describe recurring appearances of a fiery spirit or parasitic demon capable of inhabiting mortal hosts, particularly women, granting them immense mystical power while slowly consuming their humanity.
Over centuries, Soulburner passed through multiple incarnations, leaving behind scattered legends of witches, prophets, queens, and murderers touched by infernal fire.
At some point during the modern era, the entity entered dormancy beneath the catacombs of Paris, buried deep within forgotten tunnels and occult chambers beneath the city.
There it waited.
For someone willing to let it back into the world.
Angelique Ducos
[edit]Angelique Ducos seemed an unlikely candidate for supernatural catastrophe.
A shy, overlooked bureaucrat employed within the European government, Ducos lived a quiet, deeply unremarkable life. Intelligent but socially withdrawn, she spent years feeling invisible to the world around her, overshadowed by stronger personalities and trapped within routines that left her emotionally numb.
That changed when her boyfriend accidentally uncovered Soulburner’s hidden resting place beneath Paris.
The dormant entity immediately sensed vulnerability.
And possibility.
Possession
[edit]Soulburner possessed Angelique almost instantly, flooding her mind and body with infernal power, ancient memories, and occult knowledge accumulated over centuries of previous hosts.
The transformation was catastrophic.
The shy civil servant became a terrifying supernatural force capable of wielding dark magic on a devastating scale. Witnesses described black fire, spectral manifestations, impossible transformations, and psychic assaults that left victims emotionally shattered.
Eventually, the mystic hero Lotus confronted and successfully exorcised Soulburner from Angelique’s body.
The world assumed the crisis had ended.

Choosing Corruption
