The Alpha Legion were the greatest heroes of Terra Ultima, an alternate Earth that existed in a neighboring reality. In their own world, they were legends: champions, defenders, explorers, and symbols of hope in an age of cosmic peril.
They fought countless battles against the threats of their world, but even the Alpha Legion could not prevent Terra Ultima’s final catastrophe. When their Earth collapsed into a black hole through forces that remain poorly understood, the Legion were in orbit and survived only by chance. The disaster tore open a dimensional wound, hurling them across realities and depositing them on Earth-11717.
At first, the Alpha Legion attempted to stand beside the heroes of their new home. They joined battles, offered warnings, and sought to prevent the kind of escalating disasters that had destroyed the world they once protected.
Grief soon hardened into judgment. The Legion came to believe that Earth’s heroes were too restrained, too forgiving, and too willing to allow supervillains, alien warlords, and cosmic threats to survive after repeated catastrophes. They had watched one world die, and they were determined not to watch another.
Their campaign against Earth’s villains soon became a campaign against any hero who stood in their way. The conflict escalated into the crisis later known as the Alpha Invasion, a devastating clash with Watchstar and other heroes that nearly destroyed Washington, DC.
Defeated and horrified by what they had almost become, the Alpha Legion withdrew from Earth. Using another dimensional portal, they departed Earth-11717 in search of a new home where they could live in peace.

Reputation
[edit]The Alpha Legion are remembered on Earth-11717 as tragic invaders rather than simple villains. They were heroes broken by the destruction of their world, unable to accept the compromises and restraints that define most superheroic conduct on Earth.
To some historians, the Alpha Legion are a warning about grief, power, and moral certainty. To others, they remain proof that even the noblest heroes can become dangerous when they decide that only they are strong enough to save the world.
