Doctor Faust is one of the most dangerous occult masterminds of the modern age and the principal enemy of the teen super-team known as the Avant Guard. A brilliant scholar, manipulator, scientist, and sorcerer, Faust combines vast mystical knowledge with modern scientific expertise, making him uniquely formidable among Earth’s supernatural threats.
His true origins remain uncertain, as does the full extent of his connection to Dr. Julian Li, a figure with whom he appears to share a mysterious and deeply antagonistic history.
Background
[edit]Very little reliable information exists regarding Eric Faust’s early life. Records concerning him are fragmentary, contradictory, or suspiciously absent altogether. What is known is that Faust has appeared repeatedly across decades without seeming to age, often operating behind political movements, occult conspiracies, criminal organizations, and supernatural incidents.
Though publicly presenting himself at various times as an academic, physician, philanthropist, or researcher, Faust’s true interest has always been power—particularly power over the minds and wills of others.
His long conflict with Dr. Julian Li remains one of the great unresolved mysteries surrounding him. The two men clearly possess extensive shared history and mutual hostility, yet neither has fully explained the nature of their relationship. Both bear an identical claw-shaped tattoo on the left hand, suggesting membership in—or survival from—some forgotten occult order or secret society.
Neither man willingly discusses it.
Enemy Of The Avant Guard
[edit]Doctor Faust first became widely known through his repeated conflicts with the Avant Guard, whose youthful idealism and unpredictability repeatedly disrupted his carefully arranged schemes. Unlike many villains who underestimated younger heroes, Faust regarded the team as dangerous from the beginning and treated them accordingly.
His confrontations with the Avant Guard often involved psychological manipulation, magical corruption, hidden conspiracies, and carefully orchestrated tests designed to exploit emotional weakness. Trog
[edit]Doctor Faust is almost invariably accompanied by Trog, his enormous and fiercely loyal bodyguard. The precise nature of their relationship remains unclear, though Trog obeys Faust with near-absolute devotion.
Many observers suspect Faust rescued, created, conditioned, or otherwise transformed Trog through unknown means.
