Doppelganger is the codename of Jamie McDougal, a Scottish parahuman with one of the most versatile abilities known: complete control over his physical form. A student of Pacific Academy and member of the Avant Guard, Jamie has grown from a frightened runaway into a capable infiltrator and adaptable field operative.
Origin
[edit]Jamie McDougal grew up in Edinburgh, where his life was not especially remarkable—until the day everything changed.
While fleeing from a group of bullies, Jamie ducked into a blind alley with nowhere to go. Somehow, impossibly, they ran straight past him as if he simply wasn’t there. Jamie realized he had not vanished—he had blended into his surroundings so completely that he had become effectively invisible.
The discovery was bewildering.
The confirmation came soon after. When his beloved dog Scooter fell into a loch, Jamie dove in after him without hesitation. What emerged from the water was not a boy, but a dolphin—one that rescued Scooter with ease before returning to shore.
Jamie had not imagined it.
He could change.
Pacific Academy
[edit]Jamie’s abilities soon drew the attention of Dr. Julian Li, headmaster of the Pacific Academy. Recognizing both the potential and the risks inherent in such power, Li offered Jamie a scholarship and the opportunity to learn control.
Jamie accepted immediately. The chance to leave Scotland for America—and to understand what he had become—was more than he had hoped for.
At the Academy, he took the codename Doppelganger and joined the Avant Guard, where his unique abilities quickly made him indispensable.
Powers
